Disturbing News...From The News....Just a Heads Up for Everyone.
I was sitting here at my computer, with a random channel on the tv while I was surfing the net earlier.
It happened to be on the Global tv station...with Global News.
There was a news piece that has me concerned.
It was basically about the availablility of food in the future, as early as this year.
Basically what is happening is that there's not going to be enough wheat production worldwide. Which means that food is going to get very expensive. Basically what that means is that because of the shortage and the trend towards biofuels, we had better start stocking up.
I don't mean hoard. But even the guy from Canada's Wheat Board was suggesting that people start stocking up because of rationing of wheat. That's right, he said the word "rationing."
Basically the reporter in the news article said that stock up your freezer because what you have in it now will be worth a lot more later.
Call me paranoid, but to me that's worrisome. It's hard enough for those of us who have full time jobs to get groceries, what about poorer people? And basically that was the other point they were making about the future of food. Scares me actually.
Thought I'd give you guys a head's up. Take it as you like :)
