Gail: The Celebrity

Well, I was on tv today...Calgary News!

Yesterday I went to High River to visit my friend Pam.  At 9 am, I left and drove into Calgary.  Got into town, drove to my street and turned onto my street.  And what greeted my eyes?  Fire trucks and barriers.  Fire trucks by my apartment.  Not good.  I couldn't tell what building they were at.

I pulled into the alley by Tim Horton's and went around the block...pulled into the alley behind my apartment and then parked on the side of the road.  I went to take a look at what had happened (figured out that it wasn't my apartment).

I went to the street in front of my building and then surveyed what was going on.  The abandoned house across the street had caught on fire.  I said hello to the reporter who was taping it and then he asked me if I wanted to be interviewed.  I said that I hadn't had a shower and he said I looked good.  Of course I had to agree.

He asked me some questions...how long I'd been living in the area, what I thought may have happened, asked me about the homeless etc.  I'm amazed that the microphone pack was so light.  In fact, when he had finished, I almost walked off with it.

Anyway, he told me when it would be aired and then I had to go upstairs to my apartment.  I phoned some people and then went outside and started taking the stuff out of my car.  I did that and then remembered my little video camera, so I took some video of the firefighters soaking down the house.  I also took some photos, went and had a shower and then went for coffee.  I stopped and gave some Tim Horton's cookies and then realized there weren't many. So I went to Tim Hortons and bought them some doughnuts.  They deserve to have something nice after helping out.

Went for coffee and then came home and played Bioshock until 5:55 pm.  Tracy called and asked what channel and I was just looking for it....

Anyway, I saw myself...the reporter had taken some footage of me and my little video camera on my balcony....and then showed a segment of the interview.  I didn't look nervous either...I wasn't.

All in all...I was on TV!!!!!
